Transit Fundamentals

For when your goods are only passing through Iranian territory, or need to move between two domestic customs offices

Transit is one of the most widely used yet least understood parts of international trade — whether it's foreign goods passing through Iran to a third country, or your own imported goods needing to move between two domestic customs offices. On this page, we explain the fundamental concepts of this area.
External Transit
The passage of foreign goods through a country's territory, without formally entering that country's domestic market, on their way to a final destination country.
Internal Transit
Moving imported goods from one entry customs office to another domestic customs office, before final clearance is complete.
TIR Carnet
An international customs document that allows goods to pass through multiple countries without separate inspection and duty payment at each border.
Transit Guarantee
A financial guarantee that secures the commitment to the definitive exit of transit goods from the country within the prescribed deadline, and can be forfeited if the goods do not exit on time.
Transit Deadline
The specific time window within which transit goods must leave the country; failing to exit on time can result in a penalty or forfeiture of the guarantee.
Transit Warehouse
The location where transit goods are temporarily held under customs supervision until they continue their journey or make their final exit from the country.
Transit via Mersin Port
One of the most commonly used routes for goods transiting from Turkey to Iran, in which MYTARKHISKAR is directly active — see the details of this service.
Final Transit Destination
The customs office or country the transit goods must ultimately reach; a precisely defined and documented destination is a requirement for issuing the transit permit.
